My geographical background

I have visited many places around the world, (Middle East-Hajj, Egypt, Jordan, Kashmir, Paskistan, Latin America-Venezuela, Mexico, Guyana, Caribbean-Trinidad), places I can't metion, and all over the u.s but was born, raised and reside in Los Angeles, Ca. USA.

I am so glad I have traveled to many places across this dunya. It really has shaped my thinking, logic and even decision making in everyday life. It really eliminates being ethnocentric, and falling for stupid stereotypes that maybe I wouyld have if I never got to see what I've seen firsthand.

Most attractive physical feature

many...so i have been told. Real ladies will recognize a real man! Different people are attracted to different things. I try to be content and secure about myself, and I know ladies recognize that in a man. I'll say one thing I'm not cute and bubbly. I'm not average, nor do I want the average.

My Personality

Words that describe me

Original, Cautious, Humble, Protective, Kind

Best aspect of my personality

I may bend but won't break. In this fake materialistic world we live in, I try to be as real as possible. I'm not the kind of person who is always chasing after something that is beyond my means. I do not like to be in debt to anybody for anything. I try to be content with what I have. I am also a man of my word. There seems to be a shortage of real men left. I'm very picky about who I give my word to, but when I do, you can count on me. I mean what I say and I say what I mean. I know what my priorities are and stick to the script.

Worst aspect of my personality

Well sometimes I can get disconnected from everyone, I'll go numb. Whatevers wrong with me if there is, you wouldn't know it. I have taken unneccessary risks in my past and I need to let that go. I have but you cannot escape what's in your mind. I always feel that I am trying to catch up with the rest of the world. I forgive but I dont forget.

The thing I would most like to change about myself

I cannot go back in time and change the past but if I could I would. There are many things, too much to write about, one is I would have never stopped going to school. By this time I should have already been done with school, but growing up education was not important to me as it is now. I chose to run the streets, and do everything else except the right thing. Now Im paying for it. I'm a big boy so Im dealing with it. As long as your heart beats the oppurtunity to get an education is there.

My bad habits

Sometimes I have too much going on and I ended up not being able to put 100% effort to one thing, because I am so spread out. Sometimes I can't focus and I will end up doing a job or assignment that I know I could have done much better. As for bad habits, I mean if there are any I'll do my best to change them, insha'Allah

People I admire / my role-models

Prophets of God, My Beloved Mom, ChaChi Ma, Myself, Mujahideen, Ernesto "Che" Guevara, Malcolm X, Laden's Son, Hugo Chavez, Greg Morteson, Amy Goodman. Michael Moore, the ones that people counted out, those who fight back under oppression and occupation and those who have stayed by my side through it all.

The thing I would most like to change about the world

There is enough money and resources for everybody to have an equal amount, and there would be no need for all this fighting. When people understand that most of these borders were man-made, by a set of people that gave no consideration to the people that have lived in that land for centuries the world will become a more peaceful place. All native people who live in lands where there are natural resources have first rights to them first. I would end racism, sexism, zionism and any other discriminatory thought in all its sick forms.

How important is money in my life

Not important

Smoking

I never smoke

Driving

I drive a car/motorbike

Brothers

I have no brothers

Sisters

I have no sisters

My family

I am the only child from my mom and dad. My dad has another family from which I have one sister and brother. I have family overseas but I am not in contact with them too much. My family here on my moms side fell out of the fold of Islam. I am a very independent person. Whoever I end up with doesn't really have to worry about in-laws, maybe just from a distance. My relationship with my wife will be ours, and nobody else will have an influence on it.

In the social setting, I am

Shy at first

My favourite food

Afghani/Arab/Mexican/Thai/Desi foods

On a typical day, I would wear

Always clean, sharp and simple. I know how to use an iron...

Religion

Am I a convert to Islam?

No

How important is Islam to me

There is nothing except Islam

How practicing I am

I pray 5 times a day

Ramadan

I fast in Ramadan

Hajj

I have performed Hajj, and intend to perform it again

I am

From a small sect

I follow

No madhab

My views on Islam

Dumb dumb question, but then again people fall for whatevers thrown at them. I wasn't going to fill in this part because I didnt want to get in some Islamic debate. Recently I decided to write something here, and those that understand, will understand. Those that don't, if your confused let me know and I'll try to unconfuse you. I don't like to say what kind of Muslim I am. I think whatever type of pronoun you put to describe what you are puts boundaries on yourself. For those who ask me what kind of Muslim I am, "I am what the Prophet, (pbuh), was." But to make a long story short, I was raised Sunni Hanafi. I haven't seen anything in any of the madhab's that contradict the Qur'an ans Sunnah. A Muslim is action, not just a title. When your outward actions come together with your inner spirituality, thats when you got Alhumdililah.

My Interests

My interests

Reading the Quran properly with tajweed. Studying Hanafi fiqh, and the reasoning behind certain rulings. Giving Dawah, Learning Pushto, Urdu and Arabic, (reading and writing). People who speak more than one language are amazing. I like learning the history of Islam and other religions as well. Increasing my knowledge overall in general. Anything that helps me when I give dawah. I try to exercise- swimming, kick-boxing, going to the 24 hourfitness in the middle of the night. Since I am in school a lot I have not been able to keep up like I used to. Non-Fiction documentaries...When I was younger I liked to read comic books- Spider-Man, Transformers, GI Joe. My latest thing has been cooking different Afghani dishes.

My political views

Good question. I don't think it's exactly fair for 51% of the population to rule over the other 49% of the other. My views are somewhat conservative, but agree that we can disagree.

Anti-war, independent, non-capitalistic.

Basically Im with the those who are with the truth whoever they are.

Books I am currently reading

No time to read since I am in school- U.S. History, Sociology and Al Maghrib fiqh stuff

Newspapers / magazines I read

Mainly anything independent, nothing mainstream as it is filtered and biased to brainwash everybody.

TV programmes I watch

The T.V. is a joke, any of you who really believe whats being said on television is a stupid person. Your government knows how dumb you are.

My ideal match

BisMilah-
This is might seem a bit strange to some people. I always ask people, "What is the difference between knowing what you want and settling for what you can get?" If any sisters have an opinion on that let me know. As to what kind of person I am looking for, Allah knows best, but from what I know, first and foremost a born and practicing Muslima. None of these Muslim by name types. I know alot of Muslimahs from all around the world, and sometimes a person couldn't tell the difference if they were Muslim or not. As for age, it's not really about that, it's more of where a person is in there life. I am not exactly on track based on cultural man-made timelines. So I don't expect that from anybody else. I have no problem meeting anyone from abroad, (Afghanistan, Pakistan, Saudi, etc.) just know in the end we would settle here in the states. Where's all the proper -->Pushtun<-- women at? I also take the slow road. If you have any questions feel free to contact me. I am pretty straight forward and wont waste anybody's time. "The world would be a better place if it was run by women." let me rephrase that- "The world would be a better place if it was run by Mothers!" Tell me a joke, then Go Pray.

My worst match

Somebody who is totally ignorant about the teachings of Islam. Someone who is culturally deviated and socially corrupt. Someone who thinks they know it all based on the knowledge they got from there culture and thinks its authentic Islamic knowledge.

Bad habits I could not tolerate

being dirty, lying, cheating, gossiping, etc.

How I would like to pursue a contact made on this website

Through emails then phone etc. If it leads to something serious we will get our elders involved insha'Allah...or if the sister wants to go through wali's immediately than so be it.

I am planning to get married

In the next 6 months

My ideal wedding ceremony

Good question...nikkah in the masjid. But walima, hmmm, that I may have to have outside of a masjid. It all depends...

Plans for the future

After marriage, I would like to live

In our own place

I would like to have

3 children

The most important things I would like to teach my children are

Islam first then worldly education and how to balance in between

In the future, I would like to live

In the same city as now

Personal statement

BisMilah- Asalaam Alaikum- My name is Tariq Khan. I am born and raised here in Los Angeles, Ca. There is not enough space here to write about someone to give anybody a fair chance. Life has dealt me some extremely extraordinary circumstances, good and bad, that have made me who I am today. Alhumdililah, whatevers come my way I've handled and then some. I am practical with my Islam which is my fortress. There's a time to pray & a time to play. I am a very independent person, I can't stress that enough, I live on my own, do it all myself. I am back in college, picking up where I left off many many moons ago. It is hard doing the school, work thing, (should've listened to my mommy!). I am currently majoring in Radiologic Technology. At times I feel like I'm getting nowhere fast. As to what kind of person I am looking for, Allah knows best, but from what I know, first and foremost a born and practicing Muslima. None of these Muslim by name types. I know alot of Muslims from all around the world, and sometimes a person couldn't tell the difference if they were Muslim or not. As for age, it's not really about that, it's more of where a person is in there life. I am not exactly on track based on cultural man-made timelines. So I don't expect that from anybody else. I have no problem meeting anyone from abroad, (Afghanistan, Pakistan, Saudi, UAE, etc.) just know in the end we would settle here in the states. Where's all the proper Pushtun/Pukhtun women at? I also take the slow road. If you have any questions feel free to contact me. I am pretty straight forward and wont waste anybody's time. I know when to be serious and I know when to smile. "The world would be a better place if it was run by women." let me rephrase that- "The world would be a better place if it was run by Mothers!" Tell me a joke, then Go Pray.
