A: First you must join / create an account. You must choose a username, a password, and tell us your email address so that we can contact you when someone wishes to make contact with you after reading your profile.

Then you can create on online profile about yourself, your interests, your lifestyle and what sort of person you are seeking for marriage.

When another person visits the site and performs a search for profiles, he or she would be able to find your profile and read it. Following that, the person may choose to make contact with you.

Q: I have seen many matrimonial websites on the internet. How is MuslimIntro.com any different?

Q: How can I delete my account?

A: When you log in, in the bottom right hand corner there is a link which says "Do you want to Close your MuslimIntro.com account?" Simply click on this, and follow the instructions. When you delete your account, all traces of your account will be deleted from the MuslimIntro.com server, including any messages you have received.

Q: Which time zone does MuslimIntro.com use?

Creating your online profile

Q: There are so many questions in the profile! Do I have to answer every question?

A: The profile is designed to be very detailed and thorough. It is our experience that potential marriage partners are very particular in getting information from a prospective partner in order to see if they are suitable. The questions that have been asked in the MuslimIntro.com profile are questions which are commonly asked in real life. So it is in your interest to answer as many of them as you can.

Because a complete profile is much more valuable than an incomplete profile, the MuslimIntro.com search engine ranks profiles in order of "completeness" on the search engine results page. Meaning that profiles which have more useful information will rank higher than those which contain less information.

So it is not compulsary for you to answer every question - but the more questions you answer, the greater the chances of your profile being successful.

Q: How do I change the information in my profile?

A: To change your profile, simply log on to your account with your username and password, and click on "Create my profile" from the top navigation bar.

Then you can select the different sections from the left hand navigation bar. In each section, click on "Change" on the top right hand side, to change the information in that section.

Q: How do I upload my photos?

A: Simply log on to your account with your username and password, and click on "Create my profile" from the top navigation bar.

Then on the side navigation bar, you will see the link to "Upload my photos".

Q: How do I remove my photos?

A: It is easy to remove your photos. Just go to "Create my profile" from the top navigation bar, then select "upload my photos".

Then click on the link to upload your photos. Next to the photo you want to delete, you will find a button that says "delete photo".

Q: Is it possible to show my photo only to some people and not to others?

A: No, this is not possible.

If you do not want everyone to be able to see your photo, the best option is when you have established contact with a prospective partner, email him/her your photo as an attachment using your normal email address.

Q: When I search for profiles, my own profile does not show up at all!

A: This is probably because you have not written much information in your online profile. Profiles which are empty or give just your name are of no interest to our members. So the search engine will not display profiles with less than 20% of the fields filled in.

The only way round this would be to create a profile with more information about yourself.

Q: I do not want my profile to show when I was last on MuslimIntro.com. How do I turn this off?

A: When you log in, you will find the options to show or hide (1) when you were last online and (2) when your profile was last updated. These options are in the "My Profile" control box on the members page after you log in.

Contacting people

Q: How do I contact someone?

A: At the bottom of the person's profile, you will see a box with contact options. Click on "Contact this person". If you are not yet a member, you will be asked to become a member. If you are a memnber, you will be asked to log in with your username and password if you have not done so already. Then you will be able to send the person a message.

Q: I am not getting many replies to my messages. How can I increase the chance of someone replying to my message?

A: The following tips may help increase the chance of getting replies to your messages:

• Include a photo in your profile (if you believe it to be halal).

• Make sure your profile is as detailed and thorough as possible. Try to answer as many questions as you feel comfortable with.

• Use proper spelling and grammar in your profile. Spelling mistakes and a careless approach to writing your profile does not create a positive and serious impression to a potential marriage partner.

• Pay attention to the person's "Conversation starters", and reply to them in your initial message.

• Write a customised message to each person, rather than a standard message.

Q: Do you have a chat facility so that I can chat with other people?

A: No, there is no chat facility on this website. If you are interested in chatting with other people, there are already a large number of chat sites which you are free to use, such as http://chat.yahoo.com.

Q: Next to the profiles on other matrimonial sites, they display the date that the user last logged in. Why does MuslimIntro.com not show this information?

A: The reason other matrimonial sites show the date and time the members last logged in is because these other sites restrict the number of free messages that users can send. Therefore, it is important for users to know when each person last logged in.

At MuslimIntro.com, there is no limit on the number of messages you can send, and there is no charge for sending a message.

So it may be that a person has not logged in for a long time, but may still be interested in meeting someone for marriage.

In other words, the date the person last logged in is an unreliable indicator of whether he/she is still looking for a marriage partner. This is the reason we do not show this information publically.

If a profile interests you, we encourage you to send a message to that person. There is no harm in that - if the person is already married, or decided not to marry at this time, then either he/she will simply not reply, or will let you know of their current situation.

Q: Is it possible to block a particular user from sending me messages

A: Yes, in your Account Control Panel, in the box on the right that says "My Mailbox", there is an option called "Block certain users from sending you messages". Click on that, and you will be able to list all the usernames that you do not want to receive messages from.

Please be aware that we can only stop messages being sent through the MuslimIntro.com website. We cannot do anything if someone knows your email address and is sending you emails directly to your email address.

Q: I am having an argument with someone I met on the internet through MuslimIntro.com. He/she is harrassing me. Can you help out?

A: No, we do not get involved in disputes between people who have met using MuslimIntro.com. If you are having problems as a result of your MuslimIntro.com account, your best course of action is to completely delete your account. If the MuslimIntro.com administrators become aware of any fitnah caused by specific individuals, their accounts will be terminated immediately and without further notice.
